Linda Finlayson has added to her wonderful books for children Around the World with 80 Missionaries, Christian Focus, 2026. Its colorful 8.5 x 11 hardback cover opens to 111 pages of meticulously composed graphics that include portraits, text, photographs, maps, time lines, and graphs telling the history of missionaries and their fields of service. The book is organized according to continents with the countries of each one having its own chapter. For example, the continent of Africa incudes chapters for Egypt, Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone, as well as chapters for the regions of Northern and Southern Africa. The author’s previous hardback historical titles reviewed on Presbyterians of the Past include God’s Timeline: The Big Book of Church History, 2018, and God’s Bible Timeline: The Big Book of Biblical History, 2020. The new book and the two previous titles are helpful tools for home schooling, lessons at school, church, or just for reading. Though designed for children, adults will find the brevity and clarity of the chapters beneficial for an overview of world missions history.
